Items not allowed in the camp:

Any found items not mentioned in the packing list will be confiscated without any known due. Disciplinary actions would be taken and parents might be contacted if necessary.

Disciplinary rules and regulations apply for this camp

Medication:

Any medication should be labelled with name and time to consume on the bottle. If it is in pill form, pack the medication in a small zip-lock bag with name and time to consume on the zip-lock bag.

Hand over the medication to the Camp Coordinator, SLT Alex Tay on the first day of the camp. Ensure that medication is consumed on advised timings and report to Course Coordinator for the medication.

Absence of Leave

All boys are expected to turn up for the camp, disciplinary actions will be taken and parents will be contacted if fail to turn up for the camp

Should there be any disapproval of attendance by parents, please refer the issue(s) to the teacher(s)-in-charge, Mr Elijah Ong or Mr Simon Chew

Should there be any inability to attend the camp due to any medical issues, please submit the Medical Certificate to the teacher-in-charge, Mr Elijah Ong before the commencement of the camp.

Please ensure that you have evidence proving that you are officially physically (or mentally) unfit for the camp verified by a certified doctor

It is important that we all learn and reflect upon what happened during the fateful occupation years by the Japanese and the triumps and sacrifices of our past warriors. So take note of the below details:

Sec 3 SID Boys, are excused from this session, due to your trip to Singapore Discovery Centre. Boys involved in the SID training, other than the Sec 3s, do come for this training.

Also, Wednesday will be that deadline, for registration of Boys, into this training course. If you are interested in joining, but have your Wednesdays filled up, you may speak to Primer Joseph, or myself (Munshi) about it.

Specialist In Drill - Training

Hey warriors!

I'm excited to share the drill plan for everyone. This year, 99th Coy. is moving in a powerful way, a lot of things are changing for better.

One example is drills.

This year, we have implemented the Empowerment Camp during the March Holidays as part of our aim to cut down the number of hours spent in training drills.

Under of our new plans, all new recruits will undergo this special camp from the effect of 2011 and they will passed out with a Stage 1 Drill Badge. After which, they will be given an opportunity to become a "specialist in drills" by joining the Intensive Drill Training program.

Only Boys who are under the program will get to "upgrade" themselves to stage 2 and eventually stage 3 drill badge.

Benefits of participating in Specialist In Drill training
1.1 All Boys who are in SIDt will be officially called as SID (Specialist in Drills) -Trainee and will passed out as SID and will receive a certificate as part of SID

1. Sec1 boys who are in SIDt will get a special opportunity to upgrade themselves to stage 2 drill badge whereas sec 1 boys who are not in this training will stay at stage 1 drill badge until you graduate.

2. Sec1 boys who are in SIDt will get a special opportunity to be assessed and one will be selected to be the next deputy drill master in 2012.

3. All boys who are in SIDt will get a chance to participate in key roles (e.g. flag bearer, escort) for Canberrean's Day Parade.

3.1 All boys will be automatically selected for marching contingent or guard of honor for Canberrean's Day Parade or National Day Parade. Whereas the rest of the boys will have to go through assessments and interviews.

4. All boys who are in SIDt will have a opportunity to come up with their own fancy drill steps with the guidance of the primers and officers and show case their fancy drill to the school and community

Of course, with all the attractive benefits come the terms and conditions
1. All trainee has to participate in all training
2. Only Medical Leave or School outings are allowed if you can't come for the training
3. You are required to show off how cool SID is to the rest of the company and make them jealous

BB week

The BB Week aims to solicit funding for our programme activities for our Boys. It is a month long fund raising campaign that engages friends and family members to contribute towards developing youths in Singapore.

The funds that we receive are channelled back to the Boys, enabling them in purposeful activities and educational courses. Examples include leadership development courses, national level events and overseas expeditions. It is also a place where the youths can acquire life skills and life values that will bring about positive transformation in their lives.

The funds raised are also used to provide the boys fun and meaningful activities like dragon boating and laser tag for example. Not only that, we have 2 to 3 camps annually to enrich the boys physically and mentally and all this requires funding.

After our first week of collection, recruit Ang Tiong Wei has the highest amount of collection in our company. He raised a total of $700 just in the short span of 7 days. Not only that , what makes him able to raise so much within 7 days is that he set a target and he went all out to achieve it. Let Ang Tiong Wei be an encouragement for all of us.

I would like to encourage all the boys to give their best to raise the funds and to hit the target of $100. Those who have already hit the target, good job! But let us not settle only for 100 when we can raise so much more. Ultimately what we raise go back to helping us plan for much more exciting and enriching activities.

If Yes, it means that you know what you want to do or achieve in the future. That is good.

If No, why not?

Do you know the importance of Dreams? Firstly, the definition of a dream is ‘hope’; an inspiration; an aim. Like for example, I want to become a F.B.I Officer, or I want to become a professional singer. These are dreams and these can be called goals as well.

Having a dream or goals give us direction in life. Meaning we know what we want to study, which course to take and which school to go. We will work towards our dreams, we will engage ourselves in activities that will help us to move towards our dreams.

But if we do not have a dream, we will be aimless in life. When people ask you what you want to do in the future, which course you want to take, what school you want to go. If you noticed, the answer is always like, "I don't know le, see first". Without dreams or a goal, we will not know where we be heading to in the future.

We will be less hopeful of the future and we just let each day go by just like that. And as time goes by, we realized that our life is boring, like it's "no life la".

In summary, dreams are important for us. So if you do not have a dream today, start thinking of one and think how you got to work towards it. Dreams have power. Power to change our lives and mindsets.

Finally, I just want to leave you with a thought from Pastor Bert Pretorius "I rather die living, than living and dying".

This morning the entire school has witnessed how smart and sharp our Boys looked at the Parade Square! I am sure the new Sec 1s are very impressed with the entire effort. This morning, 2 Sec 1 boys came to me to confirm that they have placed BB as their first choice on Monday!! Yeh!

Primers please give a call to those who have signed up for the Laser Tag again to chat with them and remind them to to turn up on Saturday. Encourage them to bring their male classmates who did not sign up too!

Let's continue to put on our best whenever we are given the opportunity to do so! Let's look forward to the SHOOT-OUT this Sat =)

An equipment inspection will be conducted before the flagoff. Teams who have members who report late or have missing items will be delayed and penalised.

Double Thumbs Up, Warriors! I believe the BB Cares Event was a job well done because many of you came together and worked hard. Thank you for sacrificing your time to bring smiles to the Cancer patients by raising funds and awareness.

I also heard that the Exam packs were well received by many Canberra students. All the time spent packing and distributing to the packs to different classes was all worth-while. Indeed without YOU this would not be possible. Kudos to all of you!!

In 1935, the debate team of Wiley College, a small and unranked school in Texas, unexpectedly defeated the all-time championship team from the University of Southern California. This was a classic case of the unknown triumphing over a national giant.

It was in the N2 Cluster games that we rose up together as Warriors to fight against the memories of being the weaker team; of being trashed last few years. And in the year 2010, we emerged as Winners. Really what makes a winner....

1. Hair crosses eyebrow
2. Hair touching collar
3. Hair covering ears
4. Side burn passes ear
5. Any other hair style (or bearing) that is deemed unacceptable.

2nd Offence and above: The Boy will have to make correction under supervision (chevrons will be confiscated) and attend a Corrective Parade subsequently + 30mins.
